BARS is currently not organizing a sailing program, but if you are interested you
may contact the
Downtown Sailing Center.  They offer Access-Ability Open Sail
days on the weekend for free.
We canoe on flat water through wetlands of  Maryland. No prior experience is
necessary and assistance with paddling can be provided. Seats are available
for those with limited trunk balance.
This program is hosted on flat water, not white water.  As with any water there is
a current but no rapids.  The kayaks are sit on tops (not with your legs inside)
and can accommodate 1-2 people.  The kayaks have lower back support and
more can be added.  The ability to paddle is not required, a paddler can be
provided for you and you can focus on balance and the beautiful outdoors.
Adaptations for weak hand strength can also be provided so that you can
paddle if interested.  Assistance is provided with transfers and positioning;
kayaks and paddles provided.  This is a great trip for families.

friends alike.
Snow Skiing
BARS operates the adapted skiing program out of Ski Roundtop in
Lewisberry, PA.  Dates of operation are typically after the
Christmas/New Year Holiday through the end of the season-when the
snow is gone.  A formalized schedule of lesson availability is posted
prior to the season.

We own an array of sit down and stand up adapted skiing equipment
and all adapted skiing equipment is provided during your lesson free
of charge.  If you require standard skis with the equipment there is a
rental fee from the mountain for those.

All adapted lessons are arranged through BARS, not the mountain.
SKI BASH is a learn to ski clinic hosted each February for individuals of
all ages and disability.  All skiing abilities, from the never ever to the
expert are invited to attend.  Professionally trained and certified ski
instructors, along with countless dedicated volunteers come  from
around the region to provide top quality instruction.  All adapted skiing
and snow boarding equipment is provided.

Your daily registration package includes a private, 2 1/2 hour ski
lesson, your lift ticket and lunch.  Discounts on breakfast and dinner
are also available, but optional.  Dinner are hosted at the main hotel,
anquet/uffet style so even if you come alone, you'll have folks to dine
with.  This is a great way to meet new people.

Family and friends are also welcome and encouraged to attend.
Significantly discounted hotel rates are offered.   Discounts on lift
tickets, ski rental and meals are available to all.  They can also receive
ski or snowboard lessons through the ski school.

There is something to do every night.  Listen to the band, swim,  play
video games or socialize .  There is also snow tubing, swimming and
a weight room at the hotel.
